How about encouraging guilds to create their own wiki pages? I'm sure we could knock up a template and category for AOC Guilds. Torn 10:50, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Check this out: The Acolytes. I made some simple cosmetic changes but we can have a better template with more information. Btw i asked about naming guild articles here: Talk:The Acolytes. We can ask guilds to create their wiki pages on their own forums and community forums. And i believe there are some guilds with no sites/forums. They can use our system to build simple guild pages and talk areas. Antimon 10:58, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Great idea, especially for those guilds who aren't able to get their own hosting. A general template, or example template would be a good start for those wanting to create guild pages - something with a fixed size logo/banner they can include, then a few sections similar to those already on it along the lines of overview/mission, recruitment status, location, language, conquests/achievements, etc. We could quite easily promote this. - I first thought of creating a mediawiki template like {{guildpage|master=Antimon|name=Antimon's Guild|description=We are a guild.}}. But its a little confusing for new users so let's create an example guild page at somewhere like Talk:Guild Websites/Guild article example and tell people to use that template for their guild articles. - Yeah a one-liner like that isn't too accessible - much better to have an example page whose source authors can poke at. In fact once we have this up and running, I'll write a simple guide for would-be guild page authors and contact Silirrion, the community manager , I'll see if I can get this feature added to the 'Guild Websites' forum sticky, or see if we can even get a new sticky up - for those wanting to create an easily accessible guild information page. - Let's have it in Category:Guild_Pages/Example_page? Torn 11:28, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Nope, that's a subcategory. Can be Category talk:Guild Pages/Example page. Antimon 11:30, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Ok, sounds good. I've made the Category:Guild Pages category. Torn 11:33, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- I've added the 'Guild Pages' category to The Acolytes, there seems to be some overlap with the Guild template, should we merge these two? Torn 11:36, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Delete the "guild" template and move content to "GuildPage" template. Try not to use spaces in template names and use singular names for this kind of tagging templates. Makes it easier to use :) I'm working on the example guild page. Antimon 11:43, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Ok, done. "GuildPage" template ready to use and adds the "Guild Pages" category box. Torn 11:49, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- I made this: Category talk:Guild Pages/Example page. But i think it doesn't look that good :) Source is a little messy but can be simplified using that charter table. Can you think of any other layout? Antimon 11:55, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
