[edit] 13.1 Will there be player-built cities in Age of Conan?
Yes. Guilds will be able to build entire cities and there will be both PvP cities (such as the battlekeeps and, to a lesser extent, the towers) and PvE cities (player-built cities in areas where you cannot PvP).
Once a guild is rich and powerful enough, it will be able to purchase a plot of land and start building a settlement. However, this can be a time-consuming and expensive task, requiring a lot of effort on the guild’s part, but the rewards will certainly be worth it.
[edit] 13.2 Where can we build player cities?
There are designated areas in the world where you can build player cities. It is not possible to pick just any place to build a city (as this tends to lead to a wilderness filled with empty, neglected player cities).
[edit] 13.3 How many player cities can there be on one server?
With dozens of guilds wanting a city of their own, there needs to be a system in place to prevent overcrowding and make sure everyone gets a place to build, which is why we’re using instancing for these areas. However, for the battlekeeps and towers (the PvP buildings) in the Border Kingdom, there will only be a limited number per server.
[edit] 13.4 How does the process of building a city work?
Once your guild meets the requirements and have the plot of land purchased, you can start building right away. However, buildings will require resources like iron, wood, and stone to build, while the architects in the guild will have to focus on getting the buildings built and in place.
[edit] 13.5 What sort of buildings will you be able to construct?
All sorts of them. For example, walls might be a good idea for a battlekeep with rampaging players running around, while your guild’s crafters may appreciate the higher-end crafting buildings (since it will make their lives easier), and so on.
[edit] 13.6 Can we own both a battlekeep/tower and a player city?
Yes, though it will take a lot of time, effort, and materials!
[edit] 13.7 What are the benefits of owning a player city?
Status, certainly, but it also provides a gathering, meeting, and socializing place for your guild, and many of the higher-end crafting skills and recipes will require the buildings in a player-owned city to construct.
